How To Create Gifts Under 5 Dollars To Sell At Craft Shows

If you sell crafts, then why not create gifts under 5 dollars? I know you think this is probably not worth bothering with, but this can be a great business model for this time of year.

Many people are feeling the pinch of this years economy, and some people I have talked to are not even bothering with gifts this year! So, you may have to appeal to a different market.

Instead of creating elaborate and expensive products, why not consider smaller items. Not only do adults shop at these craft shows for something unique but children also shop for their gifts as well. A friend of mine, gives her older children (10-12 years) some cash, and tells them to go off and shop when they go to a craft show. As a crafter, that has sold in many shows, I can tell you, there are a lot of kids in that age group shopping.

Here are 5 ideas:

1. Christmas ornaments, that are unique, but don’t take much time or materials to make, have a small Christmas tree and hang your ornaments on the tree.Christmas ornaments

2. Small craft kits, you can create from your leftover supplies. These are a great way for people to venture into crafting. Such as a package to make a tree ornament etc, in a small zip lock bag.

3. Craft CD’s.. You can get creative here. Spend the time and create a CD of craft ideas, and some of your own craft patterns. It will take some time in the beginning, but you can make and sell many copies of this CD and sell it for 5 dollars. Create a decorative cover for your CD and copy it. You could have a printed version in a binder, to give the customer an idea of what is on the CD. These make great gifts. The beauty of this, is you can sell many copies, and CD blanks are quite cheap now.

4. Grab bags, of supplies. Such as scraps for quilting, or enough leftover wool to make a scarf and directions. Leftover embroidery thread, and some embroidery cloth. Go through all your bins, and put together some items that can create a small craft, or like with like. This is a great way to use up your leftover supplies, that you were not going to use anyways. This is especially good for beading, and sewing. This gives your customer a chance to try a craft without the big expense of full package supplies.

One year, I had changed the type of paint I was using, and had many bottles of acrylic paint, that had been opened and partially used, but were still good. I then purchased a few bare wood items from the dollar store, one for each kit, such as frames, boxes, canvases, and created a craft kit for kids. I sold these for 5 dollars. I got rid of my leftover supplies, and yet someone else got to create something with them. I put them in see through zip lock bags, and had them in a large basket. I labeled the basket my ‘bargain basket’.

Everyone loves to look in my "bargain basket" This attracted people, and it also help me sell many of my other more expensive items. The "bargain basket" was a good leader and attracted many kids, who were looking for gifts under 5 dollars.

5. Make a DVD of you creating a craft. Most digital cameras can make movies now. A "how to" movie, and put a picture of your finished craft on the front of the DVD. Something simple. You can really put your computer to good use here. Once again, you can sell many copies of this for 5 dollars each.

Hopefully this give you some ideas for gifts under 5 dollars. As a crafter, you want to offer and sell your best crafts at craft shows, but sometimes you have to appeal to a younger crowd (kids) and also to people wanting something different for gifts, and don’t want to spend too much.

Having a "bargain basket" at a craft show, does NOT make you look cheap, it actually attracts people, and everyone loves a bargain. Plus this also helps pay the rent for the show. Those 5 dollars here and there add up quickly.

Thank You Gifts for Coaches

It goes without saying that a coach should be thanked at the end of the season. Thanking someone is important; it’s a base of our social upbringing and it shows reverence to the person we honor.

The phrase is muttered everyday, from saying ‘thanks’ to the toll booth worker to mothers around the nation saying to their child, ‘Now what do you say?’ upon any receipt of kindness from anyone.

Yet, when it comes to the unique relationship between coach and athlete, many adults have no idea the way to go about thanking the coach properly.

thank you gift for coachFirst, know that the coach probably doesn’t expect much. They probably just envision that the last day that the team comes together that they will be the one thanking the team and telling the team how proud they are of them. The coach, up until the last moment, if they are a good coach, will be focused on bringing a sense of personal and group esteem and fulfillment to each participant. The coach may even be thanking the parents.

There are many personalized gifts that are very appropriate, one of such is the plaque. One can, at almost any mall or online, find a suitable, economical plaque that can be personalized with the team name, the year, the coaches name and an ‘in honor of’ or ‘recognized for’ exceptional coaching and so forth.

Do not discount that a card, signed by all participants would also be a great gesture. If the coach is local, and folks are aware of a hobby or interest, or preference, it is possible that a gift certificate to a local eatery, store or entertainment outlet would be welcomed.

One or two people should in the beginning of the season appoint themselves to take responsibility and meet with parents via personal meeting or telephone. At this point, an agreement of how much per person, participating families are willing to spend is gathered. From this, it is also a good idea to collect ideas on gifts for the end of season, or at least begin to think of generic ideas.

Another meeting, telephone call or email can be followed up in a couple of weeks and then again, at the end of season.

It should also be discussed on how to present the gift or gifts. One parent could open their home as an evening to celebrate the end of season, or perhaps more informally, at the end of the last team meeting, the gifts are presented at that time by players to the coach.

To summarize, thanking the coach is important and teaches the players respect and acknowledgement.

Way to support this learning would be to:

1. Gather a group to institute the end of season ‘thank you’

2. Decide upon a proposed amount per person for giving

3. Allow everyone to submit ideas for gift giving and narrow down the most popular or logical responses

4. Perhaps a group gift inclusive or as a stand alone, such as a plaque where the coach can display and remember the year as one of productivity and accomplishment

5. Personally signed card from all team players and/or parents for a remembrance and to give intimacy to the gift giving.

6. If money is an issue and a gift is not possible, a poster or card that is well thought out and personal is also acceptable.

In closing, the thank you need not be costly or impressive; however it should be heart felt and show respect, admiration and understanding for the time and effort, teaching and support that the coach has given during the season.

Why Plush Toys Are Meaningful Gifts

Some of us may think that plush animals are a thing of the past, as they no longer seem to be the "it" toy. You may often decide to not give a stuffed animal for a gift, and instead get something more practical, because after all, what point does a plush toy have? What reason is there to get a stuffed animal?

The answer to that is: plenty. Stuffed animals can be very meaningful, and symbolize important events or people. This is truly a timeless gift, and we all need to be reminded of that! Let’s look at why plush toys are important in the lives of three particular age groups: kids, teenagers, and adults.

Kid’s Symbols

plush toysThere is no such thing as too many toys for children. Kids love collecting plush toys of all kinds, and they could always use more. What could possibly symbolize the innocence of childhood better than a soft and lovable toy animal? In our own childhood, we probably spent many a night cuddling up to our favorite plush bunny or bear. Children enjoy the comfort of a stuffed animal, and that comfort is a great nightmare repellant! In fact, those who say that stuffed toys aren’t in "it" toy anymore, haven’t been paying attention to what’s happening in the world of little girls. Plush animals are darn right "fashionable" for girls to have. Many girls will get a natural appearing plush cat or plush dog, just so they can carry it around in their little purses as they emulate fashionable women carrying around their small pets. Stuffed animals have certainly not gone out of style!

Teenager’s Symbols

Teenagers may not play with toys any more, but stuffed animals aren’t just a toy. They are a confidant and a comfort. In fact, many teenage girls have more stuffed animals now than they did when they were young. This is because stuffed animals often symbolize love or a crush. They are keepsakes. For example, a teenage girl will really cherish that little plush dolphin that her boyfriend gave her because he knows that dolphins are her favorite animals. Or maybe her father gives her a stuffed bear as she’s on the way out the door for college, so she will never be alone.

But it’s not just girls who can cherish plush toys. Teenage boys can also enjoy them a lot too. Boys often keep them as a reminder of something they did that was brave or impressive. For example, maybe they love keeping around that stuffed tiger they received after winning a sports game. Or maybe they have a huge stuffed lion they won at a boardwalk after proving their prowess at a darts game or baseball stand. To them, stuffed animals are a symbol of accomplishment and pride.

Adult’s Symbols

Lastly, stuffed animals can also be enjoyed by adults, though for different reasons than the kids and teenagers enjoy them. The majority of adults use stuffed animals as a decorative item. They will search for natural, classy appearing plush toy figurines or stuffed animals that can add little touches to their home or vacation home. For example, a dolphin plushie in their vacation home on the ocean, or a tiger to make their home more exotic and fit in with a jungle theme. Hallways and entrances can be embellished with stuffed lions, black bears, or even plush dogs as decoration to give a unique touch. Part of this too, is that stuffed animals for adults are more of a collectible than a toy. Many adults are true collectors, who have large collections to capture that nostalgic feeling from childhood. In fact, it’s not uncommon to realize someone you knows has kept an old teddy bear for 20 years because of the meanings it carries.

So as you can see, stuffed animals will never go out of style for any age group. They continue to symbolize and carry meaning of all kinds. Never discount the importance of stuffed animals!

Plush Toys: How To Choose And Buy Them As Gifts

Plush toys and stuffed animals can both be considered as meaningful gifts regardless if the recipient is a kid, teenage, or an adult.

Christmas Games For Adults That Are Silly, Quiet, Fun and More

Who said Christmas games are only for children? Christmas games are for adults, too, and they don’t have to be serious. After all, adults like to get their game on to relive a few silly childhood moments. Get the holiday fun started with these fun-loving adult Christmas games.

Silly Adult Christmas Games

Does your group look for any excuse to be silly? Why not choose a Christmas game that is based on being silly? Give each team a pair of pantyhose and eight balloons. When the game starts, the team blows up the balloons to stuff into the legs of the hose. To ensure the game is totally fair, the pantyhose should be queen size and the teams of equal number.

The game is finished when someone gets all the balloons in the legs of the pantyhose, puts on the stuffed "antlers" and sings the first verse of the holiday favorite, "Jingle Bells". When everyone finishes the game, take photos of all your friends wearing funny antlers made of balloons and pantyhose.

Adult Relay Christmas Games

adult relay gamesDo your friends enjoy relay games? Why not make your own Santa beard? Put out two oversize bowls filled with cotton balls and a jar of petroleum jelly. Dab petroleum jelly on each team member’s chin. The 2 teams should each have around 5 people. The first player in each line runs to one of the bowls to grab cotton balls and stick them to their greasy chins. When they get as many cotton balls as possible stuck on their chins, the players run to the next player to give them a turn.

When the entire team is wearing a Santa Beard, they are the winners. This is another holiday game that really begs you to take pictures so you can show them off for years to come. Keep water and towels handy to remove the petroleum jelly when the game and photo session is over.

Quiet Christmas Games For Small Groups

Are your friends a small, quiet group who prefer less demonstrative games? Why not pack up a bag for Santa? The game starts when you say, "I packed a bag for Santa Claus and put in some socks." The next player goes on to say, "I packed a bag for Santa Claus and put in some socks and books." As each player continues they includes all the listed items and add their own item. When you miss an item on the list, you are out of the game.

Child-Inspired Christmas Games For Adults

Do your friends love to relive their childhoods during Christmas? Why not give your guests a chance to do it at your Christmas party with a fun game that reminds them of a childhood favorite? Make your own Christmas scavenger hunt with search teams of 4 or so. Create lists of items for the teams to return with.

You can keep the search local at your house or within the neighborhood area. Include holiday items in the scavenger hunt such as a red stocking, a sprig of holly and a small wreath. If you decide to extend the scavenger hunt through town, it gets even more exciting. Have your guests purchase a box of holiday themed cereal or take a picture to prove they visited the local Christmas tree. Be creative and make the hunt action-packed. Everyone loves this Christmas game because it reminds them of childhood. It’s a great way to socialize because as everyone works together they get to know each other better.

Adult Kiss Christmas Games

Who doesn’t love chocolate and kisses? Is that why Hershey’s Kisses are such as hit at Christmas? Break your group into two teams with two bowls of Hershey’s Kisses on either side of the room. Give each team a set of really big gloves or mittens. The first person in line runs to the bowls and must unwrap and eat the a Kiss wearing bulky gloves. Once done, the player runs back to tag the next person and give them the gloves. When all team members are the first to enjoy their own Kiss, the group wins.

Finding The Perfect Hostess Gift

If you’ve been searching for a unique hostess gift, look no further. Think about presenting your hostess with an ornate container or decorative tin brimming with pistachios. What a creative thought!

Practically everyone loves pistachios, and most people think of them as a special snack food. Although many would opt to bring a bottle of wine as a hostess gift, I would have to warn that it is far from a perfect choice.

Unless you already know a host’s favorite wine, I think you should give something else. You have to be aware if people shun alcoholic beverages for either health or religious reasons. Plus, wine is just for adults, but pistachios are a gift the entire family can enjoy.

Some will say that flowers are a good option; however, the busy hostess — who is inconveniently put into the position of locating a vase, arranging, and displaying the blooms — may disagree.

How about chocolate? Wouldn’t that be a pleasing hostess gift? Quite possibly, but then you get into matters of preference, such as what kind of chocolate they might prefer. Do they like white, dark, milk, or something with nuts? And what about the risk of gifting chocolate to someone who is dieting or trying to stay away from sugar?

pistachiosThere is no better choice than pistachios. They are very nutritious and make a very unique and tasty gift. Pistachios are chock-full of nutrients like antioxidants, lutein, vitamin B6, fiber, phytosterols, protein, and are also high in "good" fats. In addition, they contain a variety of vitamins and are low in saturated fat.

According to various studies, one and a half to three ounces of pistachios a day will aid you in lowering your cholesterol and help you maintain a healthy heart. It was discovered in a recent study at Pennsylvania State University that pistachios may lower blood pressure as well. An ounce of shelled pistachios is approximately 170 calories and consists of 43 to 49 kernels.

In the shell, pistachio nuts take a bit of effort to extract, but this task keeps a person from eating mindlessly or too fast. As such, pistachios are a great addition to a diet. As you learn things about pistachios, you’re just going to love them more and more.

Besides being used 1000 as a hostess gift, during the winter I also purchase roasted pistachios in large quantities and make low-cost gifts to give to friends and neighbors. After filling a clear treat bag with them, I fold the top down and attach a holiday greeting card that I’ve made on my computer. These treat bags are not only delicious, but handy to keep around for those unexpected guests bearing holiday gifts for you. You can avoid a great deal of embarrassment by being able to reciprocate the gesture immediately.

Always purchase more roasted pistachios than you’ll give since you will want to save some for yourself. If not, when it’s time for gift-giving you may find that you’ve eaten all the nuts yourself, and you have to burden someone else with that "Two Buck Chuck" bottle of wine that someone forced on you as a hostess gift.

Some Cool Experimental Gifts For Adults

While looking around for wedding gifts and ideas, we couldn’t help but notice the monotony of online stores for gifts. The same old boring gifts, site after site!

After a lot of searching around, we came across some really nice wedding gifts and ideas for friends and loved ones. These gifts might not come with a label that says "cheap" but are sure make their recipients feel elated and cared for. It’s hard to understand the theory behind gifts and gifting. More than expensive gifts, people need love and a bit of your understanding. Gifts need to stir hearts!

Here they are:

  • A Romantic Dinner on a Cruise: Well, you don’t need to book a cruise going from England to Singapore to be able to do something like this. On the occasion of their wedding, gift your friends a dinner for two on an interstate cruise. These dinner cruises are available for almost all coastal cities in the country. Go online to make bookings now. Alright, we understand! This is going to be a really expensive affair but it’s a once in a lifetime thing. Both your friends are going to love it!
  • Cooking Classes!: Well, we did mention it before! This is going to be an unusual list of wedding gifts. A cooking class may sound a little weird (well, at least to the guy!!) but it’s perfect! Life is full of amazing things, only that we don’t have the eyes to see them. This gift is just one of those things.Cooking classes are a great way to spend quality time together in the kitchen, a way to rekindle your romance, a way to be able to help out in the kitchen and a way to show to your spouse that you care. No need to go out on a date, now that you can have it in the kitchen. The classes are going to be a lot more inexpensive than that cruise dinner. Go for whatever suits you the best!spa package
  • A Spa Package: This sounds "unusually" good, doesn’t it!? This is a perfect wedding gift for newlyweds. In case, you are the one who is getting married, then go online and buy two vouchers for you and your spouse, slide it under her pillow and let her find out what you’ve planned for her and yourself.
  • In House Yoga Classes: Time to get in shape before your wedding! Well, be careful while you gift this one to your spouse as it may come as a rude remark saying he/she is fat. Along with your to-be spouse, gift it to yourself as well. Get in shape (if you have to, that is!!!) or just get energised. This is a perfect gift from one loved one to another loved one or from a friend to their soon-to-be-married friends.

ROMANTIC DINNER CRUISE BREAK FOR TWO – SPEND MAGIC MOMENTS TOGETHER

A aggregation of cruises hit designated availability on primary occasions and events. Also, be alive of thee fact that you crapper also make your fortuity according towards your liking.

Cooking classes: the gift that gives back to the gifter

Unsurprisingly, cooking class registration increases in the weeks after Christmas, as wannabe chefs redeem gifts of culinary education. Those shopping around for just the right present will find options for any taste and talent level.

But most especially, this is the time of gift giving. This means then that people are especially mindful of any Christmas gift ideas that come their way. Why? Because everyone would want to give unique and special gifts as much as possible.

chocolates forChristmasIn terms of gift giving, there are a lot of means and items which are appropriate for different occasions. For Valentine ’s Day for instance, the gifts that are commonly appropriate are roses, jewelries, and dinner dates. These may also apply for other occasions such as anniversaries and birthdays. But for Christmas gift ideas, the former ideas may be included plus a lot more others. Christmas gifts can be as varied as the seasons because people will be giving presents to different kinds of receivers.

Unlike Valentine’s Day wherein the celebrators are commonly couples or lovers, Christmas on the other hand is for everybody. This means that gift receivers will include children, old people, couples, women, men and others. And because of these variations, people may need to buy different kinds of presents thus the collection of Christmas gift ideas. Usually, not all gifts are suitable for everybody as all differ in sizes, shapes, and preferences. Obviously, this kind of system causes more costs and time in buying for the right gifts.

But before anyone sulks with the idea, let it be known that as there are gifts fit only for a certain group of people, there are gifts too that are suitable for all ages. One of them is chocolates. Yes, chocolates may sound common but the fact remains that they are loved by everyone, children or adults alike. Aside from those very few, a majority of family members and friends loved chocolates since they were a child and so they shouldn’t be disregarded as one of the best Christmas gift ideas.

A lot of you may wonder, of all the possible Christmas gift ideas, why chocolate when it can be bought anytime and anywhere? There is probably nothing more special to it. This could be true but it is all in the type of chocolate and how it is given. There are local and common chocolates but there are one-of-a-kind products, too.
